Welcome to my new blog!

I never thought I would be blogging but I have had a lot of friends tell me I should showcase my manicures. I’m a complete newbie at this so please bear with me as I try to get this set up. Posts will be weekly, usually when I redo my manis, maybe more if I have something different to post about. I will also be posting a lot of my past manis in the next few days just to get them up on the site.

My name is Kim and I have a passion for nail art. A couple of years ago I discovered gel polish and have been hooked (obsessed :D) ever since. For those wondering, these are my natural nails and I do all my own nail art. I work exclusively with gel polish (I need it for the added strength for my thin nails) but I don’t neglect my regular nail polish collection, I use those for stamping and other nail art over the gel polish.

So, to get things started, I’ll post a pic of my latest mani. I used LeChat Pink Lady, Gelish A Little Cream Please, stamped with Pueen #48 plate and Konad White, a gold glitter striper polish, Swarovski opal crystals and japanese metal studs.

I think this may be the pink that makes THAT picture of Madras look so awesome

Spectacular! I love this design. How long did these take?

Thank you very much Tara, I appreciate you stopping by…This design took about 3 hours, the pink and taupe harlequin part is hand drawn, I didn’t tape off (probably would have saved me time if I had 😀 ) so that took some time to form and then the glitter striper took two coats and I had to wait for it to completely dry before doing the gel top coat. Placing the gems actually took less time than the rest of it, lol.

How do you get the gems to stay in the polish? Mine always fall off after about 2-3 days! =[
Gorgeous nails though!!! Can’t believe those are your natural nails! Wish mine grew that long without breaking.

      Hi Courtney,

      Thanks for stopping by!

Without gel polish my nails would break all the time too. When I am working with deco pieces and gems I use Gelish base gel as the “glue” to hold them in place. When I have everything where I want them I then cure to lock it in place. The base gel is better than Super Glue. I also use two coats of gel top coat to further hold things in place.
