Weekly Mani: Black and Gold

Hello everyone!

I finally found some time to redo my mani. I still hate my nubbins but at least they look a little better with a dark color. I got my new Infinity plates from Dashica yesterday and I picked up a few of the L’Oreal Gold Dust texture polishes in my local supermarket to create this week’s manicure. I used my favorite black gel LeChat Black Velvet as the base color and then stamped it with a pretty swirl design from Infinity plate #32. On the accent nail I used 2 coats of L’Oreal The Statement Piece, this is a gorgeous gold with multi-size glitter and subtle texture (not quite as sandy as OPI’s Liquid Sand). It applied quite nicely and dried quickly. I stamped with same image with Sally Hansen Black Heart.

OMG Kim, I think you “out-did” yourself this time. Going to be hard to top this one…..

Thanks Jackie…I really like this one too :).

So envious of your Infinity plates! And how funny…my mani this week uses one of the Gold Dust polishes too :)

The plates are nice, a good variety of large, medium and smaller designs. The gold dust collection is pretty, my faves are the gold and teal colors. They are a little less textured than the OPI sand collection.

Hi Kim, is that “Sally Hansen Black Heart” an Instadry colour? I have just been doing my own gel polish for a little while, and I have a couple of stamping things coming from Amazon as after-Christmas presents. I love the look of your art, with style and bling that has taste! I haven’t tried any texture polishes at all, so I will have to enjoy browsing the drugstore for L’Oreal, as well as OPI’s Liquid Sand, if they are current. I found your blog on Pinterest.

      Hi Sandy,

Glad you found my blog, I’m happy you like my manis :D…Black Heart is in the Hard As Nails line and most drugstores have them. I don’t think the Insta-Dri line has a black cream. The texture polishes wear quite nicely over gel…I just do 2 coats of a coordinating gel, wipe the sticky layer and apply 2-3 coats of the texture polish.

Love these as always! I’m in the States visiting family and see that you’ve used L’Oreal Gold Dust, are there other brands (that I can pick up at RiteAid, Target, Kmart, etc) you’d recommend? I’m using Sally Hansen Insta-Dri metallics as stamping polishes and they work pretty cool, just don’t know which brands work nicely and which don’t. Thanks again for your truly inspirations artwork! Simply beautiful!!

Thank you! The only other texture polishes I have are OPI Liquid Sand and Zoya Pixie Dust. Both are excellent, the Zoya’s are especially pretty. The OPI and Gold Dust I found in my local Supermarket. The Zoya’s I had to get online. Sally Hansen has a Sugar Coat line, Nicole by OPI has a Gumdrop line but I have not tried these…you should be able to find these in the drugstores. As for stamping polishes, click on the “Stamping Polish List” at the top of the page. These are the one I own and know stamp well.

Hello what is the gold color that you used for stamping? I love it and I can never get a gold that looks like that.

    1. Kim

      Hi Perl,

The gold stamp is China Glaze Passion.
