This week’s mani is a combination of Moyra stamps and some hand drawn and foiled designs. Since receiving my Moyra plates I couldn’t wait to incorporate some of the stamps in a vintage design. Let’s get to it!
First, I used 1 coat Madam Glam # 990, a baby pink gel polish on 2 of the nails and created a half-moon cutout, I perfected the line with a brush dipped in alcohol and then cured and removed the sticky layer. In the cutout area I stamped a flourish design from the Moyra Vintage plate and cleaned up any that got on the pink with some acetone. To tone down the pink and the stamp a little, I applied a thin coat of IBD Cashmere Blush and cured and removed sticky layer. I wanted to distress the stamped area a little so I used First Gel Teddy Brown to kind of ‘dirty’ it up, blending a little with my fingertip and cured. Before the foiling I applied a no-wipe topcoat, this helps the foil to only stick to the areas you want. I then used LVMAY gel color in Black and painted some dots and small scrolls and flourishes and then cured. A tip for foiling, let the gel cool for a about 2 min before applying the foil…waiting seems to help with tackiness. Press the foil firmly but not hard and then pull up quickly. Pressing the foil too hard into the sticky layer will simply smear the foil around. Top with two coats of top coat for a lasting finish.
For the other 3 nails I did one coat of the pink cured and sticky layer removed. I then stamped with the script image from the Vintage plate and applied a coat of Cashmere Blush and cured and removed sticky layer. I distressed with the Teddy Brown and cured. Topped with 1 coat no-wipe cured and then used the black gel to paint an abstract design over the stamp and cured and cooled before foiling. After applying the foil, topped with 2 coats topcoat and done!
And here is the video tutorial!
